Trendy Wednesday - Anything but White Wedding Shoes

Mark and I are headed home to Nola this weekend for the wedding of one of my oldest and dearest friends.  I love everything there is to love about weddings.  I especially love the anticipation of seeing what the bride will be wearing, what flowers she'll be carrying, what she will choose as her wedding colors.  We went against the Christmas wedding convention of reds and greens and opted for chocolate brown and hydrangea blue.  You can see some of our pictures HERE!  The choices for wedding styles and color themes really is endless.

Perhaps it's just the Sex and the City fever in the air, but one thing I wish I had done was spice up my look with a pair of colorful shoes!  Oh Carrie Bradshaw, you really did set the bar for something borrowed (vintage suit) and something blue (these goodies below).

Here's a selection of fabulous satin evening shoes paired with a coordinating wedding photo collage.  Imagine the possibilities!

What were your wedding colors?  If you haven't celebrated your big day yet, what colors do you see yourself choosing?

  1. My wedding was all about the color red and I definitely wore red shoes!

  2. My colors were deep purple and fuschia! I wore fuschia satin Stuart Weitzman peeptoe pumps with a big bow on the ankle... you couldn't see them under the dress, but I felt pretty sassy knowing they were there!

  5. Wow! Love all these! Make the wedding revolve around the shoe - fabulous! Those Manolos are still killer, even if that movie was a few years ago. I wish I had them for mine too. Love! Great, fun post! Oh, and I could definitely do with the CL Glitter pumps in my closet as well. :)

  6. This is SO FUN Jen! Your wedding pictures were absolutely gorgeous! You know those "Something Blue" Manolos are Bumpkin's favorites :)

I did a big mix of pinks for our wedding (surprise!) and they ranged from softer pinks to deeper fall-ish watermelon pinks. It was super pretty. My only regret was not wearing pink shoes! I went conservative/traditional since we were married in a cathedral...If I could change anything I would have at least had some awesome pink shoes to wear at the reception!

    XOXOX Have a great day!

  8. Be still my heart, those shoes are all beautiful. I especially like the Badgley Mischka's in the pale pink. Gorgeous.

I love that it's in style to wear colored shoes under your dress. I love the surprise pop of color!

As you know, I am not married yet, but when I do, I will def wear a fun colored pair of shoes.

As far as wedding colors go, it really depends on the time of year and the color trends. Right now I am loving yellow - either marigold or a lemon shade, but I think my bridesmaid would kill me if I put them in yellow dresses since it's a tough color to pull off... so maybe I would have navy dresses w/ yellow as an accent color. That woudl be for a fall or winter wedding. If I got married in the spring, I would probably go with a pink shade - maybe a melon shade of some sort? Hard to say! Will be fun to choose, though! :)

  9. Oh I love all of your wedding photos!!! You looked absolutely beautiful!! :)

My wedding color was a bright pink. Not neon...but very bold. My bridesmaid dresses were black with the pink sash tied around and the bouquets were bright pink gerber daisies. It was on the beach so I didn't wear shoes at all!

  10. I got married a WHILE ago (2002) My wedding color was indigo with bright flowers for the highlight. I did hand tied bouquets full of orange asiatic lilies, gerber daisies in yellow, red, and hot pink, and irises thrown in there for a touch of the bluish purple. At the time, I had a hard time finding deep royal blue bridesmaid dresses, so I had to roll with an indigo color. If I was getting married now, I'd go with a lapis color for the dresses and such and do yellow, orange, and pink gerber daisies for accents and then have my bouquet be mostly white daisies with a few of the bright colors thrown in. I'd also have a much less formal wedding. (still married in church, but reception would be outdoors, maybe in Audubon Park or in the Sculpture Garden at City Park as I LOVE both of those locations.

I did a "trash the dress" photo session for my 5th wedding anniversary (i still fit in my dress!!!) and for that, I wore red shoes and I am so glad I did so, because I wound up taking a shot in front of a pretty blue & yellow doorway on Royal Street with my red shoes and red bouqet. It is one of my most favorite pictures and all of the primary colors together just looks so fun! :)

Email me if you want to see the pictures, I'll send you a link! :)

  17. i love all the blues -- my 2001 wedding was periwinkle blue and purple (and i am totally a pink girl!) for MY blue, i wrote each of my bridesmaid's names on the soul of one of my shoes. The story is the first name to rub off will be the next one to marry -- and that was the case! all my bridesmaids were single, and shortly after my wedding, one got engaged!
