The Corpsman's Ball

Tonight, Mark and I will be attending our last formal military function, the 2010 Beaufort Naval Hospital Corpsman's Ball.  If you might be wondering who a corpsman is and what he or she does, I'll be happy to fill you in.  A Hospital Corpsman (called an HM for short) serves as an enlisted medical specialist for the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps.  These brave men and women provide healthcare services to sailors and marines at home, on ships,  and on the battlefield.  Mark has been so grateful to all of those he has worked with over the past four years, and we both consider it a privilege to be able to join them this evening in their celebration.

I cannot believe that this will be the last time I see Mark in his dress whites.  Our four years of military service have gone by in the blink of an eye.  I am thankful everyday that we have had the opportunity to consider ourselves a part of the United States Navy.  My appreciation for the sacrifices made by our service men and women is immeasurable.   Their courage and selflessness is the truest example of the American spirit.  To all of those who provide me with the security and freedom I have always known, Thank You!
