Pink and Green Thursday: Tick Tock

I remember sitting in class watching the thin red second hand as I wished for it to make its way around the black and white clock at the front of the classroom.  It often felt like time was moving so slowly that there was just no way the second hand would reach its destination - 3:00.

And now I think back to the last time I sat in a classroom with a black and white clock and I realize that that was so long ago.  And I wonder where has the time gone?  And why did I wish it away?

We have only about two months left here in Beaufort, and unlike the slow pace of the classroom clock, here time is flying by.  In an  instant, our four years here have been completed.  At the start of journey at the US Naval Hospital Beaufort, I wanted nothing more than to get to here, close my eyes one night, and wake up four years later so that we'd be home in New Orleans.  Careful what you wish for!  It feels like that is just what happened.  And now that we can count the number of weekends we have left to soak up all the goodness that exists in the lowcountry, I wish the second hand would start to slow down.  I wish that time would stop whizzing by so that we could have just a few more moments in this amazing place with these amazing people.

But that's the funny thing about time, there is no stopping it, no slowing it down, no speeding it up.  Time is what we make of it.  And right now, we want to make the best of it.

  6. It's crazy how when we were younger we wanted time to speed up so bad and now we only want it to slow down!! It seems like yesterday I was sitting in Chemistry watching the clock and it didn't seem to be moving a bit!

  11. I know what you mean! I always wish for events to get here and then I'm sad when they are over. I'm going to be sad when we leave Italy and move back to the States, even though I really do miss the States sometimes.
