30th Birthday Weekend in Pictures (and a few words)

So, my big 30th birthday weekend has come and gone, and it was even more special than I could have imagined it being.  I knew my friends Christie and Lauren were coming in on Thursday night.  What I didn't know was that my sister-in-law Alissa would be joining them!!!  I got home from a long day (filled with coughing and sniffles from the terrible cold I caught) of continuing education, and Mark insisted that I follow him into the den to see all the work he had done on the house during his day off.  I obliged and what do you know, Alissa was waiting in there to greet me with champagne and Crumbs cupcakes direct from NYC!  It was the sweetest and most lovely surprise!!!

Here's a look into our weekend in the Big Easy...

Beignets and Cafe au Lait at Cafe du Monde

The St. Louis Cathedral

The start to our French Quarter carriage tour

Masquerading ladies on the way to my birthday dinner at Luke

My favorite birthday tradition - jazz brunch at Commander's Palace

This weekend was something I have been waiting for for what seems like forever.  I woke up this morning sad that my girls had gone home.  But I also woke up so grateful that they came from so far away to celebrate this special birthday.  They reminded me how lucky I am to have such truly amazing people in my life.  From my parents and my sister who made this whole week so special to my New Orleans friends who took the time to celebrate with us, to my Beaufort friends who are my family, and my sister-in-law who is my friend as much as she is my family.  And to Mark who makes me feel special everyday, but who makes me feel like a queen on my birthday.  He made this weekend possible.  Thank You All.  For Everything.  But mostly for your love and friendship.
