About two weeks ago I threw myself the best pity party a girl could ever host. I would have invited you, but pity parties are really only fun if you're the guest of honor.
It was a week filled with bumps in the figurative road. It was also a week filled with bumps in the literal road as someone ran into my car when it was parked in the office parking lot. Ick!
And during that week there were tears of frustration, and grumbles of the woe is me variety, and, of course, the repetitive use of the phrase "when it rains, IT POURS!" And I guess, at some point, all that self-pity got me to thinking about how if these little bumps were as bad as my life was going to get, then dang it, my life was pretty good.
And I realized that when it pours, I can either sit around and sulk, or I could pick up a pretty little pink or green umbrella and go on about my day. Soon enough, the rainy days go away, and all you're left with is sunshine, and the good news about sunny days is that your pink or green umbrella comes in handy for those days just the same.
Jen, how beautiful! I think there's something so fancy and whimsical about umbrellas, don't you?
ReplyDeleteLovely post, sweet friend :) Happy pink & green Thursday! XOXO
I love those - especially the green umbrella with all the leaves. Hope this week is going better for you!
ReplyDeleteI have sort of been having a bit of a pity party this week. I did somethign to my ankle last weekend and haven't been able to run all week so I have been particularly mopey about life and dating and just really anything. I need to snap out of it. This post is a good reminder that the things I stress/whine about are nothing compared to the troubles that others have to deal with!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you have had a few bumps in the road, darling! Hoping things are looking up soon, and in the meantime at least you have gorgeous pink & green umbrellas to weather the storm! XO
ReplyDeletethis was a beautiful post. you are so eloquent and you lift my spirits! now, go and grab that UMbrella (said with our Nola accent) and dance through the drops.
ReplyDeleteps - hugs are coming your way.
Ah, I love this post. This Houston rainy weather is having me see all gray....but, this brightened my mood. Thanks for that and I hope everything starts "drying up," if you will...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this post! It is beautiful. I am sorry times have been rough lately. I hope you are feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteI love the pretty ladies on the beach. If only I could look that glamorous on a beach!
I am off to look at the pictures all over again. :)
When you have pity parties in the future, I can just jump in the car and bring the sunshine. Deal?
ReplyDeleteThe second picture of the girl's legs with the bokeh lights, will make Trish squeal like a little pig. Watch and see what she says!
Love the umbrella images. I had a moment last night myself, but as Scarlett says, let's deal with that tomorrow.
Smiles up, only!
Love you Jen!
Its okay to have a pity party every now and then. Hope this week is going better for you! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteFabulous umbrella shots and I agree with Lisa ~ that 2nd one is the best although I adore the 3rd one too! Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit and when life hands you lemons ~ throw in some rum and spike the lemonade!
ReplyDeleteHoney, those days happen to all of us! So glad the rain has gone away and you can now see the sun! Love the umbrella pics ;)

ReplyDeletep.s. Spiking a drink always makes a girl feel better!
Oh, such a beautiful post! I love love love all of these umbrella photos. I had an umbrella photo in my Pink&Green Thursday post last week, & I just had to end with it because it was such a cool shot. Your umbrella finds are even more inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI was just finishing up a great parenting book this evening...the author was talking about taking itty bitty steps to get out of those "I'm in hell" situations you find yourself in (specifically with toddlers, but it could apply anywhere!), & how quickly things can turn up when it seems like they couldn't turn any more down. I love to surround myself with beauty&optimism, & I love all of you bloggers that share your appreciation for life & its beauty, even when your day isn't going great. Thank you for that. =)
& thank you for your sweet comments on my guest post for Trish. SO APPRECIATED!
What a gorgeous collection of photos dear!! You always seem to know exactly what to post and how to make it look fabulous! Love the pink umbrellas... especially since I LUUUV pink :-)
