Trendy Wednesday - Floral Summer Scents

Growing up, I was an early riser.  I would get ready for school and then hurry to my parent's room to watch my mom get ready for work.  She would fix her hair, put on her makeup, and spritz herself in  Nina Ricci's L’Air du Temps perfume.  Mmm, I loved that smell.  I remember how grown up and fancy it all seemed, especially the perfume part.  I wanted to be just like her when I grew up.  And what do you know, every morning I fix my hair, put on my makeup, and spritz myself in perfume.
The only difference between mom and me is that she had a signature scent, whereas I am a perfume hussy.  I can't possibly commit to just one. Instead I wear whatever scent fits my fancy each morning.  I have very few "collections," but I will admit to having a growing perfume collection.  I ask for one for each birthday and for Christmas.  I love that right before I walk out the door, I can assess what kind of day I'm having or what kind of mood I'm in and find a perfume to match.  For instance, today, being that it's Cinco de Mayo, I went for something just a little spicy - Prada (which I will admit I wanted because the bottle has one of those old fashioned pumpers and that originally I found it had too much Patchouli to it, but I have come to just love it).
In the summer months, I find I am typically drawn to a scent that is light and floral.  Here are a few that I'm loving...

The ideal fragrance translation of the Michael Kors fashion image with rich creamy florals that explode into exotic spices tamed by Moroccan incense and warm woods. A wearable scent of sophistication and sensuality.
A rose is a rose is a rose ... unless it's the thoroughly modern Bond No. 9 petal-pink rose created exclusively for Saks Fifth Avenue. Notes of lantana leaves, dry dates, mace, orange rose, tuberose, orris, amber, musk and sandalwood.

Vera Wang has captured desire in a modern, floral bouquet. The first encounter is a flirtation that begins with Bulgarian rose, calla lily, and mandarin flower. The flirtation is followed by a passionate kiss of gardenia, lotus, iris, and white stephanotis. The fragrance is wrapped in a final embrace of sheer musks, white woods, and precious floral nectar.

A new object of desire, Lolita Lempicka Forbidden Flower has a pure and sensuous accord based on Absinth Flower, a mystery that combines innocence and exhilaration. With Strawberry Leaf and Mimosa Stem, the Absinth Flower accord takes hold and emerges in an invigorating and acidulous pirouette of organic notes. The heart note combines Peony, a radiant flower of wild sensuality, with the powdery abundance of Violet. Aniseed Flower subtly melds with this bouquet of petals and then releases the intoxicating vapors of Absinth. The base note reveals a voluptuous warm fruity softness, with vibrant Musks of Almond and a Morello Cherry with accents of red fruit.

This fresh, smooth floral fragrance evokes sublime powdery rose. The effect is chic, comfortable, and entirely addictive.  Top notes of pink peony, freesia, and lychee embody subtle freshness. At the heart, midnotes of magnolia flower, lily of the valley, and rose rise to sublimated femininity. A base of velvety elegance comes to fruition through cedarwood, amber, and honey.

Do you have a signature scent?  Or do you switch around?  What scent do you think everyone should know about?

  1. I love the Prada bottle! Sadly, I usually pick perfume by which bottle I like, haha. I have started using "Chanel- Madamoiselle" and I really like it. I think I will stick with it, for a while at least! Hope you have a great day!

  2. I'm a sucker for pretty bottles too. My favorites that I switch around are Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf, Angel by Thierry Mugler and Princess by Vera Wang. I love the Prada bottle too. So fun!

  3. I know exactly what you mean about being a perfume hussy! There is no way I could settle for just one perfume all the time!!! I do wear Clinique Happy quite often and always end up going back to it. I also love D&G Light Blue and Ralph Lauren Romance.

  4. I'm a single scent kind of girl. daily, I usually wear Black Raspberry Vanilla body splash from BBW. For special occasions, I wear Aveda Pure-fume that I had designed especially for me. It's a minty scent. I have HORRIBLE allergies and almost all major perfumes irritate my sinuses so I don't even bother with them.

I love the smell of Tresor and Chanel No. 5, thought.

  5. What a sweet post, love the story about reminiscing about your mom, I have very similar recollections! I am Chanel Chance all day, every day! I have several others but that is my signature!

I so wish I was going to be in NOLA next weekend while you are there! Soon honey, we'll make it happen! xoxo

  7. I used to do the same thing! I loved watching my mom put on make up and loved testing her perfume. I was at her house this weekend, and used some of her Lolita Lempicka Forbidden Flower! Love it!

  8. I don't really have a signature scent - i Like to switch it up. My favorites are Stella, Burberry Brit, Unforgivable Woman, and then this perfume from Ireland called Inis. I think my fave of all of them is probably Stella, though.

  9. I am like you girl. I have a collection...and how I feel that day. Or how I am dressed, totally decide what perfume I am wearing. Today I spritzed on my Oscar de la Renta Intrusion! I love it...if I had to pick. Pretty sure this would be "my scent!" I get one for myself every year...I may try out the Michael Kors you suggested...great post! Happy Cinco de Mayo!

  11. How funny that I just emailed you about perfume before I read today's entry. Ha! And the Prada scent is my "signature" but I'm currently looking for a replacement b/c I think I've grown immune to it. :)
