Mark of a Champion

Perhaps I took for granted that all of America had studied the face of Saints Quarterback Drew Brees like the fans of the Who Dat Nation have.  For those who did, you knew that Drew has a birthmark on his right cheek.  The mark is so much a part of Drew that over Mardi Gras there were two guys on the parade route selling Drew Brees birthmark tattoos shouting "Get your mark of a champion."  While Drew was at Purdue, students drew (no pun intended) the letter P on their right cheeks to represent Brees's birthmark when cheering him on at football games.  I assume at this point that he takes these gestures as compliments since they are meant to make everyone a little more like him.  But the one gesture that had to be the most awkward I have seen in a long time came at the start of the interview between Oprah and Drew last week.  See the clip below to watch as Oprah attempts to wipe off Brees's birthmark after saying "Who just kissed you?"  Seriously? Seriously???  My first thought was do you live in a cave?  To be fair, maybe she's just not a football fan, but seriously?  Apparently someone has been fired over this situation, and that's the crazy part.  I guess when you're Oprah, you don't have to be accountable for your actions, someone else will be.  (Can you sense I'm not a huge Oprah fan - please don't hate me for that!!).  Of course, Drew handled the weirdness of that moment like the classy guy he is and just brushed it off (pun intended here).

Did you watch it?  Is that not the most awkward thing!!!

  1. I'm not a fan of hers either. I feel like even if she's not a football fan, she should research everyone who comes on her show. And the birthmark wouldn't have been hard to research.

Drew is such a classy, wonderful, talented gentleman though. Love him so much.

  6. Ooo.. awkward. I am also not an Oprah fan.

I will say I did not know he had a birth mark since I am not a football fan so don't know anything about anyone no matter how popular they are!!

  9. I love his birthmark! I remember watching this in February, and died laughing because Oprah was ridiculous enough to think someone had kissed him! Silly woman... it's his awesome birthmark!
